MTU Partners MFM Youth Church to Prepare Students for Success Beyond Graduation
Mountain Top University, in collaboration with the Youth Church of the International Headquarters of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM), recently organised a Life and Career Summit for final-year students on Thursday, 28 May 2026.
The highly impactful event, held at the Conference Room of the College of Humanities, Management and Social Sciences, brought together accomplished professionals, industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and career development experts from diverse sectors of the economy to prepare graduating students for the realities of life beyond the university environment.
The summit was conceived to bridge the gap between academic learning and the demands of the contemporary workplace by exposing students to practical knowledge, career strategies, entrepreneurial opportunities, and emerging global trends shaping the future of work. Participants were enlightened on employability skills, leadership development, postgraduate education, digital transformation, and the increasing relevance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in enhancing workplace productivity, innovation, and efficiency.
In a letter addressed to the Vice-Chancellor of Mountain Top University, Professor Elijah Ayolabi, the Summit Coordinator, Mr Adesola Abiodun, highlighted the significance of the initiative, noting that it was strategically designed to provide Mountain Top University students with a competitive advantage in the labour market.
According to him, “The intent of this summit is to provide requisite guidance, strategic direction, and leading-edge information to MTU final-year students in order to position them advantageously for life after graduation. We are committed to empowering these students with the knowledge, skills, and insights required to excel in their chosen careers and build successful enterprises.”
A major highlight of the event was the six carefully curated breakout sessions, which addressed critical aspects of personal and professional development. The sessions provided participants with practical insights into navigating workplace challenges, identifying emerging career opportunities, building successful businesses, developing professional networks, and pursuing postgraduate studies.
The summit featured an impressive array of facilitators and resource persons, including Mr Adesola Abiodun, Director at PwC; Mr Dolapo Olawale, Group Human Resource Officer at Emerging Africa Group; Ms Anu Opafola of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc; Mr Adewale Onagbesan, Lead Consultant at Aristokrat Consulting; Mr Dotun Adeite, Search Engine Optimisation Manager at Financial Cents LLC; Mr Sanmi Odujoko, Consultant at People Capacity Management; Mr Taiwo Balogun, Data Scientist; Mr Wale Ajala, Creative Director at Genesis Media; Dr Ayo, Consultant Optician; Mr Ibukun Omoyeni, Economist with FCDO; Mr Marvelous Abraham, Creative Director at Levitate; Mr Daniel Dada, Software Engineer at Teya; and Mrs Funmi Sebastian, Chief Executive Officer of FunmiFabrics.
The wealth of experience and expertise shared by these distinguished professionals provided students with valuable perspectives on career growth, innovation, entrepreneurship, digital transformation, and leadership in the contemporary workplace.
Delivering the welcome address on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, the Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, Professor Patience Erigbe, warmly welcomed participants and commended the organisers for initiating a programme that aligns with the University’s vision of raising a generation of graduates who are academically sound, spiritually grounded, entrepreneurially minded, and socially responsible.
Professor Erigbe reaffirmed Mountain Top University’s unwavering commitment to the holistic development of its students, emphasising that the institution consistently creates platforms that empower learners to discover their potential, develop essential life skills, and compete successfully in an increasingly dynamic global environment.
She noted that beyond academic excellence, the University remains committed to nurturing innovative thinkers, problem-solvers, and transformational leaders capable of making meaningful contributions to national growth and global advancement.
In his vote of thanks, the Dean of Student Affairs, Professor Olanipekun Ojo, expressed profound appreciation to the facilitators for their invaluable contributions and willingness to invest their time and expertise in mentoring the students.
He also commended the University Management, the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, the MFM International Headquarters Youth Church, and all stakeholders whose collective efforts ensured the success of the summit.
Professor Ojo encouraged the students to apply the knowledge, insights, and practical lessons gained from the programme as they prepare to transition from university life into the world of work, entrepreneurship, and further academic pursuits.
