The Department of Physics at the Mountain Top University is focused towards training and research in the knowledge needed in the present and ever changing scientific and technological environments. The department is particularly motivated to address the scientific knowledge gap hampering the realisation of the Sustainable Development Goals in Nigeria and beyond.
To achieve our aim, the department offers B.Sc. degree in physics, and Physics with Electronics at the undergraduate level and M.Sc. and P.hD. degrees in physics at the postgraduate level.
The Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) admission requirements
The minimum admission requirements for the Physics with Electronics degree programme is to pass at credit level in the Senior Secondary School final year examinations or equivalent examinations in five subjects including Mathematics, English Language, Physics, Chemistry, and any one of Further Mathematics, Biology, Geography, Technical Drawing, and Agricultural Science. Candidates are also required to have an acceptable pass in UTME. The subjects in UTME should include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry or any other science subject.
Direct Entry (DE) admission requirements
For Direct Entry (DE) admission, candidates must have passed in Mathematics and Physics or Chemistry at ‘A’ level or equivalent. Holders of OND and HND at a minimum of upper credit level are also eligible for consideration for admission into the 200 level or 300 level. The Department of Physics shall consider the transcript of the candidate to appropriately place the candidate.
