NYSC Matters - Student Affairs Division
In order to serve as a continuous reminder for all the students and parents, we hereby present NYSC Matters to educate PCMs on their expectations before, during and after NYSC mobilization process.
Below is the list of expectations as gathered from NYSC:
- Prospective Corps Members with discrepancies in their date of graduation
i.e. the date Senate approved PCMs final results, as uploaded on the NYSC
portal, and the date on their Statement of Results will not be registered in
the Orientation Camps. PCMs should sort out such issues with the SAOs before
coming to the camp;
- Prospective Corps Members are reminded that the photograph they upload
during registration will be printed on their Certificates of National
Service and Exemption. Therefore, they should be careful about their
clothing and hairstyles in the photograph;
- State of Origin of the PCMs used for NYSC mobilization emanates from the Jamb database. It cannot be changed after registration;
- Prospective Corps Members are reminded that the photograph they upload
during registration will be printed on their Certificates of National
Service and Exemption. Therefore, they should be careful about their
clothing and hairstyles in the photograph;
- PCMs names as used during his/her studies in Mountain Top University and printed on the Statement of Result MUST correspond with the names used for Jamb and printed on Jamb Admission Letter;
- PCMs names at matriculation (as obtainable in item 4 above) should be the same during graduation irrespective of marital status. This is to avoid any form of challenges emanating from a change of name that will not be accepted by NYSC;
- Change of institution at the time of seeking admission into Mountain Top University must have been effected on Jamb portal with all the process completed to reflect Mountain Top University;
- Change of programme/course of study in MTU must be effected on the Jamb portal to reflect the current programme/course of study before graduation ;
- The following documents should be taken along to the camp: Statement of Result from Mountain Top University, passport photographs, Print-out of Call-Up Letter, current student I.D. card; no lower level I.D. card (e.g. 200L/300L) is allowed and other relevant documents and personal belongings;
- PCMs are strongly advised to avoid travelling at night and be security conscious always;
- Cases of lost/misplaced student identity card should follow this process for a replacement: An Affidavit followed by payment of a specified amount for replacement of I.D at the University Bursary. All final year students without identity cards should contact Mountain Top University Students’ Affairs Division, for their identity card;
- The NYSC is also in a close working relationship with Jamb regarding the ongoing efforts with the Federal Ministry of Education on the regularization of admission of graduates who secured schools’ admission outside the standard Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) with Jamb. Many of them are believed to have tempered with their date of birth to meet NYSC mobilization requirements. The orientation exercises at the camp and even the post-camp activities of the NYSC are best for people within the thirty-year age bracket. Those above 30 years do not have any business in the NYSC Programme and should not falsify age to participate in the scheme. it is a punishable offense and parents are enjoined to advise their children wisely on this matter.
