CANCER SCREENING PROGRAM FOR MTU CENTER FOR GENDER STUDIES 2022 GENDER WEEK

The Gender Week 2022 featured a Cancer Awareness and Screening exercise with the Theme; SAY NO TO CANCER, GO FOR CERVICAL, BREAST & PROSTATE CANCER SCREENING was kicked off on Wednesday 15th of June with CANCER Awareness Rally within the university community, Prayer City, Magada & Magboro Axis. This was followed by a well-attended Cervical and Prostate Cancer Lecture by members of staff, students, and participants from outside the university community on Thursday 16th of June 2022 at the University Multipurpose Hall by 9 am in the morning.

The health team for the 2022 Cancer Awareness and Screening Program was from the Lagos State Health Commission under the Lagos State Ministry of Health with their health officers at Surulere General Hospital.  Amongst them areConsultant obstetrician-gynecologist and a Urologist.

The registration of individuals for the cancer screening exercise which comprised of Mountain Top University staff, members of the university community, and outsiders within and around the Prayer City area, Magboro, Ibafo, and its environ started around 10.30 am at the University's former Health Center, venue of the screening with a throng of people already seated and waiting for the various screening sections. From the collation of the attendance register over, one hundred and fifteen (115) females were successfully screened for both breast and cervical cancer while ten (10) males were present for the prostrate examination. The exercise lasted till 6.30 pm.

 The MTU Center for Gender Studies than the University Management for providing funds to execute this program.
