ENACTUS Nigeria Organises Training Programme for MTU Students
ENACTUS Nigeria, the world’s largest experiential learning platform in Nigeria, recently organised a training programme for undergraduates of the Mountain Top University (MTU). The event which was a 2-day programme held from Thursday, 2nd June, 2022, to Friday, 3rd June, 2022, at the University Multipurpose Hall and the Postgraduate Conference Room.
Speaking on the first day of the event, the Country Director, ENACTUS Nigeria, Mr Michael Ajayi, stated that the ENACTUS™ programme was created and structured around the students. “It is aimed at transforming Nigerian youths into resourceful, purposeful and values-driven entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators”, he said.
According to the Country Director, a national competition would be organised for all member institutions of ENACTUS Nigeria by July/August 2022. The winner, national champion, of the said competition would represent Nigeria at the ENACTUS World Cup which would hold in Puerto Rico between October and November 2022.
In addition, Ms Toluwalase David-Oluwole, Programs Officer, ENACTUS Nigeria, enumerated the criteria for students to join ENACTUS Nigeria:
- • Interest in joining.
- A minimum of 2.5 GPA.
- Executive members cannot be members of other extracurricular groups on campus.
Any student who is desirous of joining the ENACTUS Mountain Top University team will be required to complete an application form indicating his/her interest. After submitting the form, such interested student will be interviewed and screened. Consequently, of the hundreds of students desirous of such an opportunity, 162 successfully moved on to the next stage.
On the second day of the event, an onboarding session was organised for all 162 students who were successful at the interview and screening stages to equip them with the necessary skills needed to function optimally.
The Senior Programs Officer, ENACTUS Nigeria, Mr Raphael A. Anagbe, who was the guest speaker at the onboarding session, said that ENACTUS students were to proffer solutions with the value of integrity. He disclosed that the objectives of the ENACTUS programme were; leadership development, entrepreneurship development and employability.
In his earlier remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Mountain Top University (MTU), Prof. Elijah A. Ayolabi, charged the students to “be ready to change the game, steer the ship and fly high”. He further stated that there was a need to become change agents. According to him, the world was evolving, and we had to move with the developing world.
After the onboarding session, there was a breakout session where the students were in four groups. The students within their various groups brainstormed for 20mins to create a dummy project that could proffer a solution to a problem within their environment. After the brainstorming, the groups delegated two members to present their projects for 3mins.
The highlight of the presentation was the project “Naija Funds Me”. Naija Funds Me is an interactive app for SMEs to find investors for their businesses. The app was by seven MTU students from the Department of Computer Science & Mathematics (Computer Science Program) - Marvellous Solomon (200 L), Mohammed Merit (200 L), Dakoh Wisdom (200 L), Gideon David (200 L), Djoyi Toluwani (200 L), Paul Gbenga (400 L) & Maxwell (400 L).
Furthermore, potential executive members were screened and appointed. The inaugurated executive members consist of a 7-man team:

Conclusively, the Vice-Chancellor, in his earlier mentions, disclosed that two of the university staff would function as ENACTUS MTU faculty members:

- Mr Glory Adebayo (Alumni Relations Officer) The event was well-attended by the university staff and students.
